Madonna has officially announced the release of her long-rumoured album ‘Veronica Electronica’. First conceived in 1998 as a remix companion to her critically acclaimed album ‘Ray of Light’, the project was initially shelved following the success of that record, which sold over 16 million copies worldwide and earned four Grammy Awards.

More than 25 years later, she has announced that ‘Veronica Electronica’ will finally see the light of day, with a release date set for 25th July. The album features a collection of rare and previously unreleased remixes from the ‘Ray of Light’ era. These include reworks by Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone. An original demo titled ‘Gone, Gone, Gone’ – a collaboration between Madonna and Rick Nowels – also appears on the tracklist.

The release will be available digitally and as a silver vinyl edition, which comes with an exclusive silver mylar lithograph. This physical release will be part of Madonna’s ongoing ‘Silver Collection’ — a limited-edition vinyl reissue series that revisits key moments from her discography.

In October last year, she had revealed that she had reunited with longtime collaborator Stuart Price, with whom she was working in a London studio. Price’s past credits with Madonna include production work on her 2005 album ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ and contributions to three of her world tours. Their most recent reunion took place during her 2023 ‘Celebration’ shows.

By the end of 2024, Madonna had teased fans again, suggesting the new project might serve as a spiritual follow-up to ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’. If it comes to fruition, the new record will be her first full-length studio release since 2019’s ‘Madame X’.

Madonna Eyes Netflix Series and Possible Elton John Collaboration

Meanwhile, separate reports have emerged claiming that Madonna may be developing a limited series for Netflix based on her life, potentially in collaboration with director Shawn Levy of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ fame.

The pop icon has revealed that she is actively rewriting the script for the film, which will now be titled ‘Who's That Girl,’ a nod to her iconic 1987 album. Evan Rachel Wood has joined the cast of the upcoming
'Weird Al' Yankovic biopic as one of the latest big names to join. The starring
role of Daniel Radcliffe as the titular singer and actor in WEIRD: The Al
Yankovic Story was announced last month (January 14), and production has
already begun. Wood will now play Madonna, whose 1984 classic 'Like A Virgin'
became a popular spoof for Yankovic in the form of 'Like A Surgeon,' which the
pop singer herself complimented upon its release.

According to Rolling Stone, Rainn Wilson (The Office)
has been cast as Dr. Demento in the Roku production, alongside Julianne
Nicholson (Mare of Easttown) and Toby Huss (Dickinson) as Yankovic's parents,
Mary and Nick.

forthcoming roles.

According to a press release, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic
Story is written by Yankovic and Eric Appel of Funny or Die and will trace
Yankovic's life “from his meteoric rise to fame to his torrid celebrity love

Colin Davis, Roku’s Head of Original Scripted Programming, added: “There clearly aren’t enough biopic movies about famous musicians and we were excited to shine a light on the incredibly true, unexaggerated story of Weird Al.”

Meanwhile, HBO revealed the premiere dates for Evan Rachel Wood's documentary Phoenix Rising on 22^nd February. The documentary, titled Don't Fall and Stand Up, follows Wood's decision to name Marilyn Manson as her alleged abuser. Don't Fall premieres on Tuesday, March 15, followed by Stand Up the following day.

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML has been added to a second version of Madonna and Canadian producer Sickick's 'Frozen' remix. Last December, Madonna and Sickick released a remix of the 1998 classic, which was taken from the queen of pop's 'Ray Of Light' album, after it went popular on TikTok.

The duo has revealed another remake on 3rd March, but
this time they've enlisted the help of Fireboy DML, who recently received
praise for his duet with Ed Sheeran on 'Peru.' Madonna revealed the remix
earlier this week when she shared a photo of herself and DML on the set of the
song's video, which she stated will be released soon after the track's release.

Madonna appears ready to go after Tory Lanez after alleging the Canadian artist’s new song ‘Pluto’s Last Comet’ rips off her 1985 single, ‘Into the Groove.’ In a statement shared with Rolling Stone via a representative, Madonna says, “I am tired of being taken advantage of and I mean business.” 

‘Pluto’s Last Comet’ appears on Lanez’s new Eighties-inspired album, Alone at Prom, and the song’s lead synth riff does bear a resemblance to the one in Madonna’s “Into the Groove.” Madonna first raised the issue in — of all places — the comments section on one of Lanez’s Instagram posts, writing last Wednesday on 22nd December, “Read your messages [for] illegal usage of my song get into the groove!”

Madonna’s rep did not immediately return a request for additional information, like whether she might pursue a copyright infringement suit against Lanez, or seek a writing credit on the song. A representative for Lanez did not immediately return a request for comment.

On top of facing the ire of Madonna, Lanez is of course wrapped up in the legal battle over his shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in July 2020. Earlier this month, Lanez — real name Daystar Peterson — was ordered to stand trial on felony charges following a hearing where one detective said Peterson yelled “Dance, b***h!” at Megan before firing his weapon. Peterson will be back in court on 13^th January.

Madonna has teased that she’s working on new music which is set to arrive sometime in the upcoming new year. The pop icon – whose last album was 2019’s ‘Madame X’ – took to Instagram on 20^th December to share a series of photos including one that shows her laying down vocals in the studio.

“So great to be back in the studio making Music again,” Madonna
captioned the post. “Suprises [sic] in the New Year.”

She also shared a number of pics with the artists she’s been working with, including Rae Sremmurd hitmaker Swae Lee, producer and engineer Lauren D’Elia, and writer Jozzy, who is best known for penning Billy Ray Cyrus‘ verse on Lil Nas X‘s ‘Old Town Road’.

This isn’t the first time Madonna and Swae have linked up on a track – they previously worked together on ‘Crave’, which appeared on Madonna’s ‘Madame X’ album. Speaking at the time, Swae discussed what it was like working with the superstar. “I was very excited when Madonna approached me,” he told Variety. “It was dope to hear that she loved my music, you know what I’m saying? I jumped to whatever she wanted me to do.

“We chilled in the studio in L.A. Just me, her and Mike Dean just coming
up with songs… singing in front of her live, and we would just bounce ideas off
each other, it was cool.”

Last month, Madonna hit out at Instagram for removing a series of raunchy pictures she shared on the social media platform.

The work titled Madame X is the second documentary made on the pop singer and a press release reported that it “captures the pop icon’s rare and rapturous tour performance,”.

Dubbed the Queen Of Pop for her influential contributions in the music world, Madonna also goes by the persona that she created, Madam X, who is ” a secret agent traveling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom and bringing light to dark places.”

The new film will showcase her life and key moments from her Madame X Tour in 2019. Directed by Ricardo Gomes, the work will include footages from 48 on-stage performers including Madonna’s children, musicians, dancers and the all-female Orquestra Batukadeiras.

“Sharing my vision with global audiences has been profoundly meaningful to me,” Madonna said of the film in a press release. “The opportunity to bring its message and the incandescent artistry of all involved to an even wider audience comes at a time when music is so deeply needed to remind us of the sacred bond of our shared humanity.”

Madame X will be the second documentary on the star and it comes thirty years after her previous work ,“Truth or Dare,” which chronicled her life ­during her Blond ­Ambition world tour.
