Meet Shoba Narayan, a figure in the world of literature, journalism, and culture. From India, Shoba is not just an author but a storyteller who has woven her narratives with words that resonate. Her journey is a tapestry of diverse experiences, from earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Women's Christian College to delving into the realm of fine arts as a Foreign Fellow at Mount Holyoke College.

With a Master of Arts from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Shoba embarked on a 30-year career as a journalist and columnist. Her portfolio boasts an array of accomplishments, including the James Beard Award and a Pulitzer Fellowship, which proves her profound impact on the field.

RJ Rohit caught up with technologist and author, Carl Malamud, about developing the first internet radio station, Bangalore Lit Fest and more! 

Carl Malamud is an American visionary, author and staunch advocate for the public domain. He is best known for founding ‘Public.Resource.Org’.

One of his notable contributions was the establishment of the Internet Multicasting Service, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the online world. During his tenure with this group, Malamud achieved several groundbreaking feats, including the development of the first-ever Internet radio station. This laid the foundation for the digital audio revolution that we enjoy today.

Beyond his technological endeavours, Malamud is a prolific author with eight books to his name, including titles like ‘Exploring the Internet’ and ‘A World's Fair.’ A man of diverse talents, Malamud served as a visiting professor at the MIT Media Laboratory and chaired the Internet Software Consortium.

Vikas, who is known as Vickypedia, is an Instagram and YouTube content creator. He started with live theatre performance, but when the pandemic happened, he switched to social media platforms. He works with a team that comes up with ideas for content and then focuses on the production value of his content. His team used all the drawbacks that people face while making videos, and switched to better alternatives to present better content. 

Vickypedia has collaborated with multiple content creators. He likes to work with people with similar interests and therefore, thinks he and Raghu Vine would be able to create good content together. According to him, content creators could focus on emotional nuance to reach a larger audience. Vikas also loves working online because of how democratic and interactive it is, unlike other mediums like television.

RJ Rohit caught up with Kartiki Gonsalves about her Oscar winning documentary, 'The Elephant Whisperers’ on World Environment Day!

Kartiki Gonsalves was born and raised in Ooty. She is an Indian photographer and documentary filmmaker. Kartiki excels in nature and wildlife photography and has been acknowledged by Sony as an Artisan of Imagery India.

Gonsalves has also operated cameras for Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel. She is the director of the documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers', which was produced by Guneet Monga, Douglas Blush and Achin Jain. A 30-minute drive from where Gonsalves was raised, the 41-minute documentary was made at the Theppakadu Elephant Camp.

The movie won the Best Documentary Short Film Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards. The film was the first from India to receive the honour.

RJ Rohit had a chat with content creator, Raghu Vine Store about his content and how he got into it.

Raghu Gowda is famous for making short comic videos. Raghu's page, ‘Raghu Vine Store’ is well-liked by his followers. During COVID-19 lockdown, Raghu reportedly became a digital phenomenon. His popularity increased to the point where he was asked to appear on the reality TV programme 'Big Boss Kannada 8', which marked a significant turning point in his life. 

Raghu was aware that he did not wish to pursue a profession in computer applications even after earning his degree. He joined a company and spent seven years working in the corporate sector, then worked as a freelancer for various social media networks and started his own channel. He posted brief videos to Facebook, which helped him gain popularity on social media through content creation.

Raghu is one of the most gifted artists of this generation and has a terrific sense of humour. He has produced a wide range of content, including food vlogs, product reviews, celebrity interviews and humourous videos. Through his ingenuity, his manner of speaking, and the way he creates the videos, Raghu has captured the hearts of a million Kannadigas over the past couple of years.

Dr. Nitya Prakash was born and raised in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He pursued an undergraduate degree from the University of Lucknow, before taking up an Executive Management programme from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai. Prakash then pursued a post graduate diploma in Banking Management from ICICI Manipal Academy, Bangalore. In his own words, he is a “ferocious reader”, who owns more than 4,000 books in his personal library. He is a prolific writer who has written youth awakening articles in Times of India and other magazines. He has received many awards including 'Karmaveer Puraskar', 2016, 'India Star Icon Award', 2019, 'Rashtra Prerna Award', 2019  and 'Torchbearer' Award, 2019. 

Dr. Nitya Prakash is an all-rounder! He is a writer, banker, management expert, investment consultant, software engineer, motivational speaker and a media man. He has authored some of the best-selling books in India including the romantic novel ‘Dear, I Hate You’, thriller fiction ‘R.I.P. In The Name of Love’, popular fiction ‘Little Lucknow’, medical thriller ‘AntiNational’ and romantic fiction ‘Letters to Mira’. He has received immense love and appreciation from his fans, including the time when Michelle Obama quoted him.

RJ Niladri had a chat with Devdutt Pattanaik, a mythologist from Mumbai, India. He is also known to be a speaker, illustrator and author on Hindu sacred lore, legends, folklore, fables and parables.

Devdutt’s work is mostly centred on religion, mythology and management. His most well-known books are ‘Myth = Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology’, ‘Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata’, and ‘Sita: An Illustrated Retelling of the Ramayana’ and ‘My Gita’.

He has authored books on the importance of sacred stories, symbols and rituals in current times. The Mahabharata and the Ramayana have been used by Pattanaik in human resource management. Pattanaik writes columns for Mid-Day, Times of India, CN Traveller, Daily O and Scroll.in. 

For 14 years, Pattanaik worked in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. In his leisure time, he wrote mythology-related articles and books, which he later turned into his full-time job. In 1997, his debut book ‘Shiva: An Introduction’ was released. Most of Pattanaik’s books are illustrated by him.

Pattanaik has worked with the Star TV network on mythological TV shows including ‘Mahabharata’ and ‘Siya Ke Ram’, which have questioned accepted interpretations of the stories and provided fresh perspectives.

RJ Rohit caught
up with former badminton player/ badminton coach, Arvind Bhat.

Arvind kickstarted his career in a youth centre in 1991, when he was 11 years old. He demonstrated his ability at an early age by winning numerous age group events at the state level. From 1994 to 1997, he trained at Sadashivanagar Club. From 1997 to 2015, he was a member of the Karnataka Badminton Association where he got his training.

In 2001, he
won the Senior State Championships. Selectors praised his performance at the
state and national levels in 2001-2002, and he was chosen for the Indian team
in 2002. He also received calls from German clubs to participate in league
matches there. He established a base in Europe for the next 12 years, spending
3–5 months there every year. Arvind represented India for 13 years, appearing
in all major international tournaments and touring for over 8–9 months each
year.

In the year 2008, Arvind Bhat won the national championships in India for the first time. He had already reached the finals four times in the previous seven years. Then, in 2011, he won the title by defeating Kashyap P in one of the finest Championship finals ever.

He has won
seven international titles, including the Scottish Open in 2004, the Czech
International in 2007 and the German Open in 2014. He won the German team
championships in 2008 with the 1. BC Bischmisheim. In over 100 international
events, he has represented India.

His career highlight was winning the German Open in 2014. At the age of 35, he achieved his best result. This is most likely an extremely rare occurrence in the sport of badminton. His best World rating was 20, which he achieved in September 2009.

Arvind is
the co-founder and principal coach of Bangalore's Level Up Badminton Academy,
which he co-founded with his childhood friend Prashanth. In the premier
badminton league, he is currently a co-owner and head coach of the Bengaluru Raptors.
He is a national selector for the Indian junior team and one of the senior
team's coaches.

conversation with Sidharth Kadadi who is a multi-award winning guitarist and
founding member of India's top Heavy Metal band, 'Zygnema.'

Kadadi is the first Indian heavy metal guitarist to become a published author, having attended the Musicians Institute in California. Sidharth has established a name for himself in the rock and metal music scene as a seasoned musician and a music educator, with over 15 years of live music experience, representing India at numerous international and national festivals, teaching and conducting workshops. Sidharth is a true artist and musician at heart, as well as an entrepreneur with zeal.

He is also an

Founder/Proprietor of 'Guitar Garage Inc.' Sidharth has also self-published
three music learning books in the past. "Guitar Garage Inc." was

Sidharth recently teamed
up with ProCraft India to develop a YouTube channel called 'Learn Music Now.'
This channel is just another means for him to give back to the community by
assisting aspiring or enthusiasts in learning the guitar in an organised
manner for free.

In this special
edition of ‘Rock The Talk’, RJ Niladri had an interesting conversation with
Shaaz Jung, a Nat Geo Wildlife cinematographer, photographer and big cat
specialist. Shaaz grew up in the woods, and his connection with India's wilderness dates
back centuries. He is a member of the royal family of Central India, a region
famed for its lush flora & fauna.

Shaaz studied Economics and Law before deciding to follow his childhood passion for wildlife. He has dedicated his life to researching and photographing wildlife, particularly leopards, and has also aided in the establishment of eco-friendly wildlife camps in South India and East Africa.

His research and
knowledge have gained him a solid reputation, and his work has been widely
published. Various creative and technical abilities while photographing huge
cats have garnered him over half a million followers across his social media
platforms, earning him the moniker "Leopard Man of India."

Shaaz has been guiding safaris for the past decade and now specializes in documenting melanistic leopards. Never before have melanistic leopards been captured in such detail, and it's safe to say that Shaaz's collection of photographs of this magnificent animal is unrivalled. His foray into the realm of cinematography has given him the opportunity to hone his creative skills: he is currently the Director of Photography for a National Geographic feature film about melanistic leopards.

Shaaz's work has always reflected the mysterious forest. His work is a unique fusion of fine art and photography, which he refers to as "environmental surrealism." His annual shows take place all around the world and feature a wide range of breathtaking prints. Shaaz's work aims to raise awareness and educate the general public. He also runs the Buffer Conflict Resolution Trust of India (BCRTI), a non-profit organization that addresses problems within the buffer zones of protected forests in South India, as an aspiring conservationist on the outskirts of the forest.
