The trailer paints a picture of a Supergirl who is still finding her footing. Kara wakes up hungover after a night of partying and tries to hype herself up for a better year, admitting to herself that she doesn't need to clear a very high bar. From there, the footage transforms into a fast-paced montage of high-flying action, showcasing Kara in her iconic suit along with glimpses at new characters, alien creatures, and intense battles.

Kara also reflects on the difference between her and 'Superman,' noting that while Clark tends to see the good in everyone, she focuses on confronting the truth, even when it’s difficult. New Version of 'Supergirl'

At the watch party, Gillespie explained that this version of 'Supergirl' enters the story carrying emotional weight, facing personal demons that set her apart from her more idealistic cousin. Gunn added that the film draws inspiration from Tom King and Bilquis Evely's acclaimed comic 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.' What attracted him to the story was its potential to showcase a different kind of female superhero—one who is flawed, complex, and unapologetically imperfect, much like many male heroes have been allowed to be.

The film is part of Gunn’s evolving DC Universe slate, which continues after 'Supergirl' with 'Clayface,' starring Tom Rhys Harries and set for release on 11th September. A sequel to 'Superman,' titled 'Man of Tomorrow,' is scheduled to hit theatres on 9th July 2027.
