One Direction-Zayn Malik Reunion? 5 Songs They Must Perform

Social media is abuzz with fans of One Direction going crazy over a possible reunion of their Favourite 5 for the band’s 10-year anniversary on July 23.

This after band members Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson re-followed former band member Zayn Malik’s Twitter account. The band’s official Twitter handle also re-followed Zayn, who split from the group in 2015. However, the pillowtalk singer is yet to follow them.

Furthermore, Zayn Malik has gone from being listed as 'ex-member' to 'vocals' on Google search.The buzz around a possible reunion had us reminiscing on One Direction and 5 of their greatest hits, which we guess fans would hope they perform on their speculated reunion.

Here to prove that better than anyone is folk/fusion extraordinaire, Raghu Dixit, with his ability to skillfully craft a heart-rendering track. Talking about his new project in partnership with Phase 1 Events and Experience, the singer dives deep into the process behind the new release - "

Conveying the simple yet powerful message, "May the whole world live in happiness, may all the worlds live in happiness", this new release is relevant now more than ever. In a true celebration of the strength of the human spirit, this project is a collaboration between 32 notable artists from around the world, making up the #Love2Humanity campaign. From Shebani Dandekar, Boman Irani and Javed Ali to Best Kept Secret, Salim Merchant and Raghu Dixit, this release celebrates the spirit of unity.

Speaking of the birth of this project, Oum Pradutt (MD and Founder of Phase 1 Events and Experiences) said: "Raghu and I always collaborate and when this lockdown was announced, I thought we just have to do something. I called him and said, 'Buddy, let's do something really special. Let's send a message to the whole world.' Humanity is affected, not just one country or one state."

Diving into the process of composing the track, Raghu Dixit quipped: "It's just a tune. A whole lot of na-na-na-nas, and then you fill it up with words". Well, that is before he broke out into marvelous sound.

Xperience Sessions Featuring Vasu Dixit & RJ Neerja

This week's Xperience Session witnessed the superstar, Vasu Dixit, on board to talk about all things music. Dixit is currently a part of Swarathma, the Bangalore-based folk/fusion band. The band was formed in 2002 in Mysore when Dixit met Abhinanth Kumar on guitars, with the objective of creating original music.

As the COVID-19 pandemic chugs on, Vasu Dixit, has found the time to think about and experiment with new styles of music. In fact, Swarathma just came out with a tune titled, 'Mushkil Mein Jeena', that calls for people to carry on and keep moving forward, despite the chaos that COVID-19 has brought with it.

When it comes to the songwriting process and concepts behind a lot of his tunes, Dixit has a bucket list of issues that he wants to tackle. With the next number he plans to put out, he wants to delve into the topic of mental health.

In this interview, we also put Dixit on the spot and asked him to pick out one instrument he’d love to dabble with, as a Folk musician. We know, we know, it’s a painfully difficult question but he approached it with quite the thoughtful answer.

RJ Neerja also spiced things up by playing a fun little game with the star. Anyway, before we give too much away about this lovely Xperience Session, go on and watch.

World Music Day: It's Everybody's Everything

Today, 21st June, is World Music Day worldwide! And yes it is easy to confuse it with world-music day but that's just not it.

We, as creators, listeners, and players of music are celebrating this occasion in a big way! So we got our RJs, and writers, and, producers together to create a joyous celebration of music on this wonderful day.

Today the table is full up with a brand new song from us, a look at some stellar instrumentalists, a rundown of iconic hits that've made their mark on countless generations and so much more!

First up, as we show you our brand new song - RJ Neerja created the lyrical journey of the truth of our relationship with music. She crooned, to music created by Nelson, "It's a day that we love more than anything for something that we cant lose /If there's one thing that can help with feeling something in the moment it's you."

Adding to the melody you can see RJ Melbin and the producers swaying to the words, "Music music music it's everybody's everything / Cue it cue it cue it and let it be your everything."

World Music Day: Celebrating Rare Instrumentalists

Music is everywhere. It has become such a great part of everyone's lives; most of us can't go a day without it. As we celebrate World Music Day today, we want to introduce you to these unique instruments played by some amazing folk artists from all over the country.

Handpan

The 'Handpan' was first created in the year 2001, it's hand crafted from two half shells of steel sheet with hollow inside. Daniel Walpes creates enchanting, soothing and resonating sound, almost relaxes you to an optimum capacity. He's a traveler and does his magic across the globe.

Kora

The 'Kora' is a stringed instrument built from a large calabash cut in half and covered with cow skin. Traditional Koras feature 21 strings, eleven played by the left hand and ten by the right. Martin Dubios has got his hands on it and we think nothing can sound more soothing than this, hear him and you will agree.

Gogona

'Gogona' from Assam is a vibrating reed instrument used primarily in the traditional Bihu music. It's made up of a piece of bamboo that has a bifurcation on one end. Anupam K Nath plays many instruments and we can surely say that he does an amazing job.

Dotara

'Dotara' is an instrument associated with the people of Bengal. Although a dotara can have 4-5 strings, most playing is done primarily on two strings, hence the name. Enjoy the music of the baul and fakiri on World Music Day. Premangshu Das is a folk artist who has achieved the art of playing this instrument. He's a vocalist as well who performs at many places in Kolkata, India.

Hulusi

'Hulusi' is a free-reed wind instrument from China. It is made of three bamboo pines inserted into the bottom end of the gourd wind chest. Martin Dubios is a multi instrumentalist and a throat singer, he has mastered the hulusi to perfection.

Theremin

We think there are two kind of people - ones who love the sound of a 'Theremin' and ones who haven't heard it yet. The Theremin is one of the first electronic instruments ever made; musicians play it without any contact to the instrument. Dr.Prakash Sontakke has a Ph.D in music and delivers many performances across Bangalore city.

This time around, our Xperience Session witnessed the superstar Suraj Mani in conversation with RJ Melbin. Now, Suraj Mani is a rocker, poet-philosopher, songwriter and former lead vocalist of the band Motherjane.

He's known as one of the most prolific artists from the Independent music scene. He hails from Kerala and is popularly known as the 'singing sensei'.

Currently, he is the founder & frontman of Suraj Mani & The Tattva Trip. In our Xperience Sessions with him, watch as Suraj Mani dives deep into his origin story, and how his love for music bloomed. The star also discusses the concept behind some of his hit tunes, before playing a wild round of 'Song Associations' with RJ Melbin.

Swarathma Urges People to Remember to Live in ‘Mushkil Mein Jeena’

The Folk-Rock band, Swarathma, just put out a brand new track titled, ‘Mushkil Mein Jeena’. The band is often described as the "sound of guitar, bass, drums and India." Hailing from Bengaluru, they sing in Hindi and Kannada, blending different genres of music into a wonderful cocktail.
Their previous numbers were mostly inspired by personal journeys as well as socio-political themes, and this tune is no different.

This single revolves around the band’s take on life in these difficult times. While the COVID-19 pandemic has pulled the rug from under everyone’s feet, ‘Mushkil Mein Jeena’ arrives as a gentle reminder to continue living on, even as life is turned on its head.

‘Mushkil Mein Jeena’ was penned by Puneet Sharma, a long-time collaborator of the band. You can get a nice long look at the lyrics in the band's music video for the track. Shooting an entire music video during the COVID-19 Lockdown, is no piece of cake. And yet, Swarathma has managed to put out something simple and impactful. The video features the band and their family members. The stunning lyrics sit on little sheets of paper, held up by each of the band members.
